Character Breakdowns
Nancy
NANCY PILKINGTON-SMYTHE is a stylish, slightly older friend to Poppy. Married to
Charles and tired of running the family antiques business while her husband’s away.
Her zest for life returns when she rediscovers her ability to sing!

Dickie
LORD RICHARD HARRINGTON, known as Dickie to his friends, is full of fun and
mischief and head over heels in love with Poppy, his wife. He’s a dapper dresser and
knows all the ‘right’ people. He’s sporty loves tennis but mad about cycling and loves his
velocipede! Aunt Miriam’s slightly wayward nephew.

Reggie
REGGIE ROBINSON is a slightly eccentric, upper crust public school chap. Keen to please everyone and especially, Cynthia Blandford-Moore affectionately known as Cinders - who is the love of his life. He is a close friend of his school chum, Dickie.

Bernard
BERNARD CHALMONDLY (pronounced Chumley) is a charming and talented musician and, though from a wealthy background, is struggling to get work and make ‘ends meet’. Slightly older than his school friend, Dickie, Bernard is a professional pianist, singer, composer and teacher with dreams of putting on his own musical one day. His life takes on a different meaning when he meets his new pupil, Nancy, an old friend of Dickie.

Poppy
LADY POPPY HARRINGTON is a scatty, fluffy, fashion-conscious young woman
who adores her husband, Dickie, and loves being adored by him! She lives for fun and
a good time and, though quite superficial, loves her good friend Nancy.

Cinders
CINDERS (CYNTHIA) BLANDFORD-MOORE is a sporty, ‘jolly hockey sticks’ type and is in love with Reginald Robinson who she met at school. Cinders enjoys ‘wearing the trousers’ in their relationship but loves him and regards him as a bit of a trophy. She’s good friends with Dickie.
